As the title of my email suggests, I will be doing a sponsored bike ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats in September together with my friend Matt. Why LEJOG you may ask…well…it’s a fantastic way to see the most beautiful bits o fthe UK, away from the motorways etc and it’s also a fantastic opportunity to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support (plus I fancy a bit of a challenge). Cancer effects so many people in so many ways and I know that we all know someone who has been effected by the disease. Macmillan do an incredible job of supporting those with cancer and their families. If you would like to know more about the work that Macmillan does, then please go to their website www.macmillan.org.uk. I think that Matt will be raising funds for Help the Heros, so please feel free to support either charity.
We will be starting our trip on the 30th August 2013, getting the sleeper train from Reading down to Penzance, and then cycling from Penzance to Land’s End to start our trip officially. After much research regarding our route, we have decided to follow that of www.pewseys.co.uk, as his route takes in the smaller roads and avoids any busy A roads. We have decided to do a slightly longer version of the route and go via the Isle of Arran (in for a penny, in for a pound and all that!), and our total route is 1050 miles long (1680km) over 15 days. This means that we will be cycling slightly further than strictly necessary, but at the same time, I think that the route will be stunning. We will be doing this trip completely unaided, carrying all of our belongings with us and staying in Youth Hostels along the way.
If you would like to sponsor me, then this can be done via my JustGiving site http://www.justgiving.com/Beth-Storry
If you would like to know more about our trip, then please feel free to email me. I will be updating my Just Giving page with updates of the ride along the way. I appreciate any donations made.
Thanks,
Beth
