It was then just a matter of waiting to see where the French and the Austrians ended up to see where we would finish overall. Luckily for us, we got one out of two, and managed to move up the overall standings to finish the Euro’s in 2nd overall. Happy to say thats a PB for us, the last time we sailed in a European champs was way back in 2009, where we kind of fluked it into 3rd! So at least this was one better, and a little more convincing!!
Then came the real struggle of the day, the pack up… It was incredibly hot (the car temperature guage was showing 28 degrees at 7pm) and we had rather a lot of gear to wash and sort out, so that we are all set when we come back for the Worlds La Rochelle. Finally home now, so packing everything up ready to leave early tomorrow morning, and begin our rather epic trek of a drive to La Rochelle where we will leave our gear. Its only 1840km… haha, and we have about a day and a half to do it in… Bring on the driving shifts…. The fun of campaigning in Europe!!
By then it was 5pm so we got sent ashore with the last race of the day cancelled, which was a bit of a bugger.. as we could have done with another race!! So we go into tomorrow’s medal race in 3rd overall, eleven points off 1st and nine points off 2nd, then another nine points back to 4th. So with only eight boats in the medal race that is rather a few points to make up, but its all good, nothing like a good challenge!! Looks like the breeze will be back in tomorrow, so looking forward to a good race tomorrow!
