The fixtures are confirmed for the first season of the league under it’s new banner of the NOW: Pensions Men’s Hockey League. The sponsorship of the league by NOW: Pensions means that prize money will be on offer for the best teams and athletes. The winners and runners-up of each of the four divisions, as well as third place in the Premier Division and each division’s Player of the Season and top goal scorer will collect the rewards at the end of the season
England’s U21 Women’s squad faced Germany in three test matches over three days in Lilleshall. Between 17 and 19 May our girls gave their all against the visiting squad. Since its foundation in 1969, the EHF has always valued its players with Best Player, Most Valuable Player and Best Goalkeeper awards at all of our Tournaments. However in recent years, as the players, coaches and umpires have perfomed better, given more, developed themselves through their actions on and off the field of play, we feel that it is now time to honour those very special people that are involved on the field in hockey. The idea of a Hall of Fame, a place (albeit a virtual one) where people can admire, enjoy and revel in the achievements of the greatest in our sport.

The Summer Universiade is an international student multi-sport event, also known as the World University Games, and hockey is back on the programme for 2013 after an absence of 22 years. England’s Steve Catton has been appointed by the FIH as a Technical Officer to this year’s event due to take place in Kazan, Russia, 7-15 July. Speaking at the Universiade hockey officials seminar held in Kazan this month, Steve gave local officials an update on the role of technical officials at international hockey events in order to prepare them for the main event.

‘Hockey for Heroes’ Tour 15.05.2013 Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully I can give you a better understanding of who we are and what we are trying to achieve, some of you may have already heard about the ‘Hockey for Heroes’ Tour but for those of you who haven’t here is a quick introduction. The most important thing to remember is that this event is not just a few hockey clubs being involved in a charity event, this squad represents every hockey club in England and we are just a small group of players acting on behalf of our ‘Hockey Family’ and showing everyone what hockey can achieve when we put our resources together for the greater good of others. International stars will be celebrating the opening of a second pitch at the Beech Avenue Sports Ground, Taverham on Bank Holiday Monday, 27th May in a day that will include fun activities for all the family.The new pitch features a brand new type of carpet manufactured by Edel Grasse of the Netherlands. The ‘H20 grass’ has a formulation of plastic and re-designed substrate to maintain its playing characteristics without additional watering.
EHL Final Four hosts HC Bloemendaal have been crowned Euro Hockey League champions for a second time after winning a pulsating final against KHC Dragons of Belgium. The team lead by retiring legend Teun de Nooijer – who was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player in his final playing season – defeated the Dragons 2-0, with Rogier Hofman scoring both of the goals. The result gave Bloemendaal their second EHL title, adding to the one that they claimed in 2009.

Den Bosch have claimed a remarkable 13th elite European title in 14 seasons courtesy of a 4-2 victory over defending champions Laren MHC in the final of the EuroHockey Club Champions Cup. Goals from Sabine Mol (2), Maartje Paumen and Vera Vorstenbosch gave Den Bosch the title, with Kim Lammers scoring twice for Laren.

Another full day at the EuroHockey Club Championships and with a 12-0 win over Baku, the girls from Reading ensured a full 10 points and seem determined to stomp their way through the EuroHockey Club Trophy and take the title. The 12 goals were shared amonsgt 10 players, only Danson and Halle scoring twice.

Bloemendaal to contest EHL Final against Belgium’s Dragons Teun de Nooijer’s dream of winning the Euro Hockey League in his last ever playing season remains alive and kicking after his HC Bloemendaal team reached the tournament final courtesy of a penalty shoot-out victory against Amsterdam H&BC. The win means that the host club will play Belgium’s KHC Dragons, also winners on penalties in their Semi Final clash with Rot-Weiss Köln, in a mouth-watering final on Sunday.
