Germany remained unbeaten in the Women’s World Hockey League after a commanding 7-1 victory over India on day four to qualify for the quarter-finals. The first goal came after fourteen minutes. A Bachmann shot from a penalty corner forced Sarita to parry but the rebound fell to Muller-Wieland who finished from a tight angle.
Hungary’s London 2012 Olympic Games gold medallist Krisztian Pars and Germany’s World record holder Betty Heidler produced 2013 world-leading throws of 81.02m and 76.48 at the 59th Janusz Kusocinski Memorial meeting, an IAAF Hammer Throw Challenge event, in the Polish city of Szczecin on Saturday (15).

Great Britain’s Vicky Holland settled for silver after she was edged out in a photo finish at the triathlon European Championships in Turkey. Holland’s Rachel Klamer claimed the title in five-way battle for gold but Holland finished just two seconds behind, crossing the line in one hour, 55 minutes and 45 seconds, and the Czech Republic’s Vendula Frintova completed the podium.

Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow are aiming to keep hold of their 10m synchro title as they lead a nine-strong Great Britain team to the 2013 European Diving Championships in Rostock. The pair, who finished fifth at the London 2012 Olympics last summer, will arrive in Germany full of confidence following strong outings in the Diving World Series this season. Bronze medal-winning performances in Mexico and in a Grand Prix event in Fort Lauderdale will give Couch and Barrow hope that they can regain their European crown when competition gets underway on June 18.
Jack Bateson, Andrew Selby and Joe Joyce boxed their way into the semi-finals of the European Championships in Minsk, Belarus, today (Wednesday 5 June). All three are now guaranteed at least a bronze medal in the competition.
