As part of the Rabobank Hockey World League Semi-Final festivities, the FIH today announced that the 2012 Women’s Player of the Year is Dutch standout Maartje Paumen. It is the second consecutive year that the midfielder has won the award.
The Netherlands saw off France 8-4 in the Quarter Final of the Rabobank Hockey World League. The Dutch will now play Australia in a mouth- watering Semi Final on Friday. The Dutch were a goal up after three minutes.
Australia and India contested the third Quarter Final in the Men’s Hockey World League. The Kookaburras’ recorded a 5-1 victory to take them through to Friday’s Semi Finals. The game wasn’t even two minutes old before Australia was on the score sheet
New Zealand sealed their spot in the Semi Finals of the Rabobank Hockey World League with a 1-0 victory over Spain. A fiercely fought contest was settled early in the match.

Belgium and Ireland contested the first Quarter Final of the Men’s Rabobank Hockey World League. As expected Belgium ran out 6-3 victors in a highly entertaining match. Belgium took lead nine minutes into the game after Loick Luypaert placed a drag flick into the goal from a short corner One minute later Thomas Briels doubled the lead for Belgium when he lifted the ball over David Harte following a great run into the D from Simon Gougnard.

The Netherlands booked their place in the Semi Finals of the Women’s Hockey World League with a commanding 8-1 victory over India. The Dutch opened the scoring after twenty one minutes; a back pass from India was intercepted, Kitty Van Male at full stretch to get a cross in and Kim Lammers with the finish. Maartje Paumen made it 2-0 three minutes before half time
Korea saw off Belgium 2-1 in a cracking Quarter Final in the Women’s Hockey World League. Belgium got off to flyer, a goal inside the first minute. Judith Vandermeirens’ cross volleyed in by Barbara Nelen.
Germany recorded a 2-0 victory over Chile in their Quarter Final of the Women’s Hockey World League. Germany were expected to win and started strongly.
New Zealand and Japan contested the first Quarter Final of the Rabobank Women’s World Hockey League. The Black Sticks triumphed 3-1 in scrappy affair in Rotterdam. Japan came haring out of the blocks and scored in the first minute of play.
Check out Peter Caruth dribbling past two Netherlands players by bouncing the ball over their sticks and pulling back for Michael Watt to shoot but the great assist was denied by a brilliant save from Stockmann. The Netherlands claimed top spot in Pool A and booked a quarter-final against France following a 5-0 victory over Ireland in the Men’s Hockey World League. Billy Bakker had the first chance, one on one with the keeper but dragged the shot wide.
